Many Things Going On!

I am going to attempt to use this break to begin to start a lot of projects i have been trying to do for a long time. i am also going to use this break to plan out the surprise i mentioned in an earlier post, and will not mention any more detail of, so it will remain a surprise.

The list of things i want to do is very long , and its all things that take time, but its all things that will be practice and hopefully assist me as i go with this program.

The two that top the list, would be The Pilot script and the Stop-Motion Animatic.

Christmas Break

SCREENPLAY

So, my #1 goal, from an animation standpoint, over the Christmas break is get this A.S Screenplay written and plotted out.

I have an idea ready, i just need to write the outline, and then begin the long process of writing or typing the script to send to them. Coincidentally, i created a funny animal character in class, and i might end up using it as a kids idea to send.

A Stop-Motion Commercial

So, after much thinking, and an old commercial giving me the idea, i am going to use the commercial storyboard i made in class and turn it into a stop-motion short film.

i just got to create the basic story of how it will play out, and add a few more panels to the story, and then create the animatic , there is one video on You Tube that i am aiming for here, the link is below:

I am hoping this animatic will be smooth enough to show the entire story, and then from there i begin to create it in stop-motion, which should be pretty simple.

The Stop-Motion Continued

So, i think ....i will  use my Christmas break to start creating an original idea for this stop-motion stuff, once i have that i will write it , and then storyboard it .... and then once i have it all on paper, i will see what i need to make it happen.

I am going to try and use this Animation stuff to keep me busy, and once the break begins, ill be free for 4 weeks to work on some stuff of my own, and also practice for next semester.

so, i was thinking about this, and how to start ... and then it hit me, ill use a recent storyboard i did in class, and turn it into a stop motion short. :)

the Research & The Stop-Motion

So, the point of this post is two-fold, one is to mention that as time progresses with this program i find myself further immersed in the research process, and finding things out, and find how things are done, and why they are done a certain way. I have also come to enjoy the behind the scenes of stuff, and often times, that is more interesting than the actual production Its cool to watch commercials, after just doing work on a Commercial Storyboard for school, it gives me a greater appreciation for how these commercials are done, and the time and effort that goes into 30-45 seconds.

Also, just for perspective, looking at everyday things and thinking about the perspective of it, or even, like i did recently, looking at car websites and seeing the basic shapes in order to draw it in the right perspective.

As far as the stop-motion, well i still REALLY want to do it, but i want it to be big, and all out , and great, so until i can make it all those things, i will continue to think , and maybe design stuff in sketches, or do a storyboard for an idea, but at some point, i will get it done, and post it on my You Tube channel, which is linked below.

Comic Ideas

I mentioned in an earlier post i was trying to find a style to use, and i recently started something with a school project, but the style would primarily be for YouTube and for comic ideas.

The comic ideas, both of which are still in development, will be updated very soon on this blog.

UPDATE:
So, the first new comic idea will set up the next one, which will being in a new central character , who will be a big part of one of the YouTube series' im working on. The initial idea for the comic is being reworked.

Finding a Certain Style

So, there are plenty of things i am working on and thinking about, outside of the school projects.

The main being the same as its been for years, the Pilot script, and the YouTube series, which i am trying to figure out how to design the characters. Ive been watching certain shows and cartoons and trying to find a style i could use for this series.

The others would be the Amzxon studios Scrteenplay, and Comedy Pilot, the Stop Motion video and a new comic idea, but before i do that i want to do some more research on it.

The Story

So, ive realized recently all the great story driven television that exists, although most of it is online or web shows, but still, the story is all that counts, without a solid story, you got nothing.

I put a photo of 'Arrow' from the CW, because it is at the top of my list of shows to watch, i am a fan of The Green Arrow from DC Comics, and that is pretty much what this shows centers on. I noticed they are now introducing more of the DC Universe into the show, Black Canary and The Flash come to mind.

There is also a long list on Netflix, and Showtime/HBO ..... now will i ever watch all of them, probably not, but i will start wiith Arrow sometime soon hopefully.

Also, 'Hannibal' season 2 returns to NBC soon. :)

Thinking ....

So, ive been letting these ideas sit, and ive been doing some thinking,  .... and i think i should watch movies in the same area as these ideas are going to be to get a better idea of what worked and what didnt.

I do want to watch The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings and at some point i will.

The same with the 'horror' genre Pilot, i think i might go back and watch some movies in that area to get an idea of what i dont like and what i might use.

Journey to The Unknown

So, after seeing more motivation, and since i will soon know exactly how to properly put an animatic together, i am hoping to start this YouTube series, and at least get the rough animatic for the first episode on YouTube soon.

I am hoping to squeeze some time to continue writing it soon, each episode will only be 5 or 8 minutes in length, nothing major. In terms of sound and voice, im not too sure yet.

Its in progress

I have started getting references images, and i began writing it.

The Plan ....

The idea , hopefully is to keep building on this 'galaxy' i created, which is posted somewhere on this blog. The YouTube series' i am working on and the Pilot will in some way be a part of this 'galaxy'.

Its cool, because i can keep reusing or bringing back characters from other ideas, and thus far there have been a few stand-out characters, and i'm hoping to create some more. Some will be returning to one of the YouTube series'.

In a way, Marvel was a big reason why i wanted to create things like this, .... but also its just logical and makes the most sense, and its even done in TV, shows that get spin-offs, or even sitcoms that are not related, have been said to have taken pace within one 'TV world'. Even the major projects i do in the program, i'm hoping i can in some way bring one of these characters to life in 3D.

Keep Busy ...

So, basically i try to keep busy with anything related to Animation/Entertainment ... either by reading, or watching or creating ...and also working on projects for school or personal projects.

Basically i am trying to write a 'Horror' genre Pilot, create two YouTube series' of my own, create a comic book (using the techniques learned in class) , and create a stop-motion video. I am also working on a contest for Hamilton Crime Stoppers.

There is also a potential side job which is also a YouTube series, but that is still in the early stages.

I try to keep as busy as possible with this stuff, mainly because i love it, and i want to succeed at it .... and the more i think about this, the less i think about other stuff that is pretty shitty right now.

Inspiration Everywhere

So , the basis for this post is just to say that it is now impossible for me to have a certain number of inspirations, because i find at least 10 new things that inspire me to keep going every day. The above poster is for one of those things, that being Thor: The Dark World,. and more specifically Marvel and their Cinematic Universe.

The November 19th episode of Marvel Agents of SHIELD will pick up where this movie leaves off, and most likely lead into the next marvel movie. The way they have created this is absolutely brilliant and inspiring. Although i kind fo tuned out of Agents of SHIELD, it is a cool concept, and a cool way to connect the next phase of movies.

I was also reading about Clive Barker and Hellraiser, which is also really cool, and i really want to find some of his works.  I have also been reading about Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, and i must admit it is very cool, the world that has been created based on the books .... and i do now want to watch the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, and i kind of want to see The Desolation of Smaug. I am currently attempting to create a YouTube series heavily inspired by these series'.

I also still do want to see 'In The Heat of the Night' and 'They Call Me MISTER Tibbs!' ..... something about that series of movies seems like it could spark an interesting crime idea.

So, to me the inspiration comes from everything and anything related to entertainment, or comics, or books .....its absolutely awesome.

The Next Steps ...

So, basically the next step for the two youtube series' is writing out the first episodes for both, after that its creating the animatice for youtube, if i can add sound thats even better.

As far as the Pilot goes, im going to write a few pages of some different ones and see which one is the best, or see if i get any ideas from them and go from there.

The stop-motion idea, is just a matter of watching the actual Dexter intro and plotting out how to recreate it in stop-motion.

The newest comic idea is still in very very early stages.

Stop-Motion and Pilot Script

UPDATE: NOV.3/13

So, i was thinking about the stop-motion thing recently, and then it hit me, looking at the newest Jeff Lindsay book, 'Dexters Final Cut' ...and it hit me, take a good scene from Dexter and turn it into stop-motion, so im going to start writing some stuff out and see what happens, and then hopefully storyboard it. :)

As far as the Pilot script, it took looking at things that already exist to get me going with my own, now i will most likely continue or revisit the Gorgo script i started, but for now im moving on.

I also have plenty of other projects to do, personal projects, school projects and other ones.

'Pilot'

The first of what will hopefully be many Pilot scripts is underway. The idea is to get the first ten pages of each one written, 10 should be enough pages to decide which is the best to then rewrite and continue with.

I started the outline for the first one, with roughly what will go on each page.

Why these two links? ...well its simple, im anxious and eager to get going, I've already sent some feelers out to companies, and ive already started thinking about and trying to acquire freelance work, I've been doing my own personal projects forever, and my Youtube account is proof of that.

Everytime i sit in class and hear the teacher talk about doing work outside of school projects, it just makes me get more excited and more anxious to do this. Everything that i do will give me more experience, and be another step towards getting that first real job in the field.

Is Rockstar Games on my radar? ... Sure, its a starting point, i will see where my experience and skills are at in 3-5 years.

It Keeps Happening ....

The same thing keeps happening, im not sure if there is an actual word for it, but every time i try to sit and create an idea and start writing it, i don't, i freeze and stop, mostly because im thinking 'this is terrible and wont work'. If im using something that already exists, i stop because i don't think my direction will live up to whats been done already.

The stop-motion is different, the story is not so hard, because once i get going with this, these videos will only be 5 minutes long, maybe 10. The thing stopping me with stop-motion is the lack of materials and the tight budget .... and i really, really want to do this, so its very frustrating.

I recently thought that maybe a novel or short novel would be a better starting point, and if i can get a solid idea going, and get it written, maybe it would turn into a Pilot idea or a Screenplay, i also tried looking up screenplays that were never made into movies, but the ones i found were garbage. I would love to make a comedy based idea, comedy is tricky, and is probably the hardest genre to write. I've even thought of writing a stage play or theater play, and seeing if maybe it would come to me from that angle.

I will not give up on doing these things, at some point, everything will click, and work. Its going to be the most unlikely time when it happens, one moment will occur and it will be the one that gives me the perfect idea. I've been trying to do this for almost 2 years now, and ive gone through A LOT of ideas, and plenty of stories, none that would have grabbed any attention.
