Research ....

The research is the best part, its how i come up with designs, and how i put things together. I guess technically i am always doing research, but sometimes i actually plan time to do it. I am hoping to get some rough designs done. Initially i had planned to create at least one of the characters i created in 3D just for practice, but i don't see that happening at this point. I do want to do some 3D stuff before September.

Podcast ....

So, a while back i had posted about doing a podcast, and i still do have plans to do it, it wont be weekly, but i still want to do one. Something i saw today made me want to work on getting it started. There a few other 'creative' ventures i want to explore, but that's another story for another post.

UPDATE:
So, i am going to keep looking and trying to find out how to contact certain companies and people about using certain things, in order to properly get permission. i will also, of course, continue to create and generate my own ideas and build my world.

I am still attempting to get the Alcatraz idea going, likely in comic form, although if i wanted to be ambitious i could make it stop motion or LEGO. It will briefly appear in the upcoming YouTube content i am working on, but i want to make something that is more about the prison and the island and further explore that mythology.

New Idea ...

After doing a little research and remembering a video from last semester and something from the extras on the Seinfeld DVD , i really want to create a sort of 'how-to' comedy animated web series, just a complete clutz of a character who attempts to show how to do things but ends up hurting himself.

Michael Richards used to do this sort of thing on The Tonight Show , he would come on as Fitness Expert Dick Williams .... that was what initially sparked the idea.

I have a lot of stuff planned for the summer.

3 Questions and Other Stuff

How to write a over the top cartoon Pilot about dinosaurs?

How to use the idea behind 'Law and Order' and create something in that area?

How to create an interesting series of webisodes?

All things i keep asking, and i plan to do a lot of practicing over the summer, and the three things above are on a long list. I have been doing a lot of research lately and just looking for little things, and hopefully i can bring everything together.

Research Mode

So, after lots of thought, the Pilot i was working on is being rethought, as it is still not exactly what i am looking for. I am also still working on all the other things, and the summer will hopefully be used to create some stuff to show.

I am very easily inspired by stuff, and reading about a lot of recent and upcoming TV shows, it has given me some ideas, and also made me go back into research mode.

UPDATE:

So, i have made a slight change, i will keep working on the first Pilot i started, as i think it can be decent, but for a while now i have wanted to create something geared more towards kids. The market is huge and it seems like the best place to aim, i still do plan to submit this Pilot to Amazon Studios, so if i make it geared towards kids, it might work better. I know Amazon Studios also accepts Movie Screenplays, which i might do at some point down the road.

The goal is to pitch this to a network at some point, so even if Amazon Studios doesn't use it, i will keep trying.

The Other Ideas

The comic ideas are being thought out more thoroughly.

 I have a few ideas for web content. The comic ideas are going to be a little more tricky, as they require the script done in a specific way.

Ideas, Ideas, Ideas!!!

So, along with the long list of other ideas and personal projects i have in mind for the summer and beyond, one of the main ones that has recently been floating around in my head is a comic, but more importantly , a comic based on Alcatraz. After re watching the failed TV series, and the 'Escape from Alcatraz' movie with Clint Eastwood, i have decided that i really want to do this.

I am not sure right now how it will play out, or what it might involve, but i am going to think about it, and maytbe do some designs.

I am also, still working on the Pilot script, ...no worries, it will come at some point.

Animation, Media, Design & Technology

My primary focus is to obviously end up somewhere in the animation field, but i do have more to this. It was once suggested to me to make sure i am very knowledgeable in all aspects of media, design and technology. that is what i am going to try and do, it will take time, but hopefully as time goes on i can keep adding and building on what i am capable of, this would be the logical explanation for going into Video Game Modding, and getting back into Website Design at the Ad Agency, and also wanting to gain more knowledge of the programming languages. The podcast is another branch of all this, it deals with multimedia and creativity, and it just seemed like a logical thing for me to do, and a way to have fun and be adventurous.

There is plenty more out there that goes beyond all the stuff i have mentioned, and plenty i plan to explore. I am still working on web content and a Pilot script, and i have long wanted to create a Flash game, just some thing simple and easy. I mentioned before that this career path has taken me into certain areas i never thought i would go.

So, once again some links i thought were cool, and also they involve stuff i am interested in or trying to start doing. The first is the LEGO website, who doesn't like LEGO? ... with this stop-motion stuff i am trying to do, LEGO is a possible way to go. The 2nd is a link to a company that builds playgrounds, ...might seem weird ...but not to me, its a creative endeavor, and i would bet they create these things in some sort of 3D environment to see how it will look.  The 3rd is a interesting blog from the Ubisoft website, talking about dialogue, which is very tricky to write believably. The 4th and 5th links are both related to video game modding, which was recently suggested to me, and it has been floating around in my mind since then, i am in the process of doing the necessary research.

Flash Game

So, although i have temporarily put my ideas on hold, i still do look and try to find different things to do, or different ways to go. Once upon a time , i wanted to create a Flash Game, and to some extent i still do want to make one. Creating a 2D Animation in 3D Studio Max kind of got me thinking about it again, it reminded me so much of Flash. so i am going to do some research on this, and see where it lands.

Content Creation

So, I really want to create some content for my YouTube channel, for me and to use as stuff i created to show down the road. As always, i have plenty of ideas floating around, and i have some YouTube content that i hope to starting putting together soon.

I also am going to look into more video sites to put content on.

Although i will once again be busy with school work for the semester, i do want to keep these things i've been doing going, and try to apply what i learn to these projects.

Just Some Cool Links

The second one is a Robotics company in Kitchener, which is cool. The third is a model shop here in Hamilton, which i do want to visit.
