Content Creation

So, I really want to create some content for my YouTube channel, for me and to use as stuff i created to show down the road. As always, i have plenty of ideas floating around, and i have some YouTube content that i hope to starting putting together soon.

I also am going to look into more video sites to put content on.

Creation Is An Act of Sheer Will.

The series i am working on is in progress, and although it is not as far as i initially planned, because i want to use the pgram to make sure it turns out great, it is still ongoing, one thing i know is, it will take a long time to complete it. The ending is a cliffhanger.

I have some ideas for some other YouTube content, and for potential screenplays, and i am also going to repackage and re release 'The Showdown' , which was the debut of Belladonna, a character i created, and a character who i enjoy using and reinventing, and who may return soon to The JW Youniverse.

Back into It.

So, after a little break and some time to think, i do have some new ideas i am kicking around, and i am still working on the Pilot/Potential Series for YouTube, and i am also thinking about a million other things, projects, ideas, school stuff, and a job situation that sucks.

Anyway, i will be updating this often.

Something Special

So, just as promised, the YouTube Pilot will begin a brand new direction, the original name was no good, so i renamed it, as seen above. The YouTube Pilot will begin with one old character, one new character.... both of whom will be the main focus, and i will slowly bring new characters into this world of mine contained solely on my YouTube channel.

Many changes have already been made to this, and it has turned out a lot better the 2nd time around, there are going to be some hints to what might come in the future, and hopefully soon i will have a trailer on YouTube.

UPDATE:
So, i was think ing that i should have a definite amount of episodes for this, and set an arc and an ending for it, and so i have there will be 9, that is assuming the Pilot works out as well as i hope, and i have the very slow arc that will pay off and the ending which will be the big surprise to end it.

The trailer is ready and will be posted soon.

Will there be more after these 10? .... i do not know yet.

Many Things Going On!

I am going to attempt to use this break to begin to start a lot of projects i have been trying to do for a long time. i am also going to use this break to plan out the surprise i mentioned in an earlier post, and will not mention any more detail of, so it will remain a surprise.

The list of things i want to do is very long , and its all things that take time, but its all things that will be practice and hopefully assist me as i go with this program.

The two that top the list, would be The Pilot script and the Stop-Motion Animatic.

Let's Call It A Surprise, Something ...Exciting!

So, for the next few weeks, or maybe longer depending on how long it takes, i will keep mentioning a surprise.

Its something that came to me while watching something on DVD, and also kind of came to me in class, something completely new and different for me to do.

Its within the 'creative element' i enjoy, which makes it a bit easier, but there is still some work to be done, i sent a preliminary email and got some initial information.

I enjoy anything that comes from a creative mindset.

Christmas Break

SCREENPLAY

So, my #1 goal, from an animation standpoint, over the Christmas break is get this A.S Screenplay written and plotted out.

I have an idea ready, i just need to write the outline, and then begin the long process of writing or typing the script to send to them. Coincidentally, i created a funny animal character in class, and i might end up using it as a kids idea to send.

A Stop-Motion Commercial

So, after much thinking, and an old commercial giving me the idea, i am going to use the commercial storyboard i made in class and turn it into a stop-motion short film.

i just got to create the basic story of how it will play out, and add a few more panels to the story, and then create the animatic , there is one video on You Tube that i am aiming for here, the link is below:

I am hoping this animatic will be smooth enough to show the entire story, and then from there i begin to create it in stop-motion, which should be pretty simple.

The Stop-Motion Continued

So, i think ....i will  use my Christmas break to start creating an original idea for this stop-motion stuff, once i have that i will write it , and then storyboard it .... and then once i have it all on paper, i will see what i need to make it happen.

I am going to try and use this Animation stuff to keep me busy, and once the break begins, ill be free for 4 weeks to work on some stuff of my own, and also practice for next semester.

so, i was thinking about this, and how to start ... and then it hit me, ill use a recent storyboard i did in class, and turn it into a stop motion short. :)

the Research & The Stop-Motion

So, the point of this post is two-fold, one is to mention that as time progresses with this program i find myself further immersed in the research process, and finding things out, and find how things are done, and why they are done a certain way. I have also come to enjoy the behind the scenes of stuff, and often times, that is more interesting than the actual production Its cool to watch commercials, after just doing work on a Commercial Storyboard for school, it gives me a greater appreciation for how these commercials are done, and the time and effort that goes into 30-45 seconds.

Also, just for perspective, looking at everyday things and thinking about the perspective of it, or even, like i did recently, looking at car websites and seeing the basic shapes in order to draw it in the right perspective.

As far as the stop-motion, well i still REALLY want to do it, but i want it to be big, and all out , and great, so until i can make it all those things, i will continue to think , and maybe design stuff in sketches, or do a storyboard for an idea, but at some point, i will get it done, and post it on my You Tube channel, which is linked below.

Comic Ideas

I mentioned in an earlier post i was trying to find a style to use, and i recently started something with a school project, but the style would primarily be for YouTube and for comic ideas.

The comic ideas, both of which are still in development, will be updated very soon on this blog.

UPDATE:
So, the first new comic idea will set up the next one, which will being in a new central character , who will be a big part of one of the YouTube series' im working on. The initial idea for the comic is being reworked.

Finding a Certain Style

So, there are plenty of things i am working on and thinking about, outside of the school projects.

The main being the same as its been for years, the Pilot script, and the YouTube series, which i am trying to figure out how to design the characters. Ive been watching certain shows and cartoons and trying to find a style i could use for this series.

The others would be the Amzxon studios Scrteenplay, and Comedy Pilot, the Stop Motion video and a new comic idea, but before i do that i want to do some more research on it.

The Story

So, ive realized recently all the great story driven television that exists, although most of it is online or web shows, but still, the story is all that counts, without a solid story, you got nothing.

I put a photo of 'Arrow' from the CW, because it is at the top of my list of shows to watch, i am a fan of The Green Arrow from DC Comics, and that is pretty much what this shows centers on. I noticed they are now introducing more of the DC Universe into the show, Black Canary and The Flash come to mind.

There is also a long list on Netflix, and Showtime/HBO ..... now will i ever watch all of them, probably not, but i will start wiith Arrow sometime soon hopefully.

Also, 'Hannibal' season 2 returns to NBC soon. :)

Thinking ....

So, ive been letting these ideas sit, and ive been doing some thinking,  .... and i think i should watch movies in the same area as these ideas are going to be to get a better idea of what worked and what didnt.

I do want to watch The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings and at some point i will.

The same with the 'horror' genre Pilot, i think i might go back and watch some movies in that area to get an idea of what i dont like and what i might use.

Journey to The Unknown

So, after seeing more motivation, and since i will soon know exactly how to properly put an animatic together, i am hoping to start this YouTube series, and at least get the rough animatic for the first episode on YouTube soon.

I am hoping to squeeze some time to continue writing it soon, each episode will only be 5 or 8 minutes in length, nothing major. In terms of sound and voice, im not too sure yet.

Its in progress

I have started getting references images, and i began writing it.

The Plan ....

The idea , hopefully is to keep building on this 'galaxy' i created, which is posted somewhere on this blog. The YouTube series' i am working on and the Pilot will in some way be a part of this 'galaxy'.

Its cool, because i can keep reusing or bringing back characters from other ideas, and thus far there have been a few stand-out characters, and i'm hoping to create some more. Some will be returning to one of the YouTube series'.

In a way, Marvel was a big reason why i wanted to create things like this, .... but also its just logical and makes the most sense, and its even done in TV, shows that get spin-offs, or even sitcoms that are not related, have been said to have taken pace within one 'TV world'. Even the major projects i do in the program, i'm hoping i can in some way bring one of these characters to life in 3D.

Keep Busy ...

So, basically i try to keep busy with anything related to Animation/Entertainment ... either by reading, or watching or creating ...and also working on projects for school or personal projects.

Basically i am trying to write a 'Horror' genre Pilot, create two YouTube series' of my own, create a comic book (using the techniques learned in class) , and create a stop-motion video. I am also working on a contest for Hamilton Crime Stoppers.

There is also a potential side job which is also a YouTube series, but that is still in the early stages.

I try to keep as busy as possible with this stuff, mainly because i love it, and i want to succeed at it .... and the more i think about this, the less i think about other stuff that is pretty shitty right now.

Inspiration Everywhere

So , the basis for this post is just to say that it is now impossible for me to have a certain number of inspirations, because i find at least 10 new things that inspire me to keep going every day. The above poster is for one of those things, that being Thor: The Dark World,. and more specifically Marvel and their Cinematic Universe.

The November 19th episode of Marvel Agents of SHIELD will pick up where this movie leaves off, and most likely lead into the next marvel movie. The way they have created this is absolutely brilliant and inspiring. Although i kind fo tuned out of Agents of SHIELD, it is a cool concept, and a cool way to connect the next phase of movies.

I was also reading about Clive Barker and Hellraiser, which is also really cool, and i really want to find some of his works.  I have also been reading about Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, and i must admit it is very cool, the world that has been created based on the books .... and i do now want to watch the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, and i kind of want to see The Desolation of Smaug. I am currently attempting to create a YouTube series heavily inspired by these series'.

I also still do want to see 'In The Heat of the Night' and 'They Call Me MISTER Tibbs!' ..... something about that series of movies seems like it could spark an interesting crime idea.

So, to me the inspiration comes from everything and anything related to entertainment, or comics, or books .....its absolutely awesome.

The Next Steps ...

So, basically the next step for the two youtube series' is writing out the first episodes for both, after that its creating the animatice for youtube, if i can add sound thats even better.

As far as the Pilot goes, im going to write a few pages of some different ones and see which one is the best, or see if i get any ideas from them and go from there.

The stop-motion idea, is just a matter of watching the actual Dexter intro and plotting out how to recreate it in stop-motion.

The newest comic idea is still in very very early stages.

Stop-Motion and Pilot Script

UPDATE: NOV.3/13

So, i was thinking about the stop-motion thing recently, and then it hit me, looking at the newest Jeff Lindsay book, 'Dexters Final Cut' ...and it hit me, take a good scene from Dexter and turn it into stop-motion, so im going to start writing some stuff out and see what happens, and then hopefully storyboard it. :)

As far as the Pilot script, it took looking at things that already exist to get me going with my own, now i will most likely continue or revisit the Gorgo script i started, but for now im moving on.

I also have plenty of other projects to do, personal projects, school projects and other ones.

'Pilot'

The first of what will hopefully be many Pilot scripts is underway. The idea is to get the first ten pages of each one written, 10 should be enough pages to decide which is the best to then rewrite and continue with.

Why these two links? ...well its simple, im anxious and eager to get going, I've already sent some feelers out to companies, and ive already started thinking about and trying to acquire freelance work, I've been doing my own personal projects forever, and my Youtube account is proof of that.

Everytime i sit in class and hear the teacher talk about doing work outside of school projects, it just makes me get more excited and more anxious to do this. Everything that i do will give me more experience, and be another step towards getting that first real job in the field.

Is Rockstar Games on my radar? ... Sure, its a starting point, i will see where my experience and skills are at in 3-5 years.

It Keeps Happening ....

The same thing keeps happening, im not sure if there is an actual word for it, but every time i try to sit and create an idea and start writing it, i don't, i freeze and stop, mostly because im thinking 'this is terrible and wont work'. If im using something that already exists, i stop because i don't think my direction will live up to whats been done already.

The stop-motion is different, the story is not so hard, because once i get going with this, these videos will only be 5 minutes long, maybe 10. The thing stopping me with stop-motion is the lack of materials and the tight budget .... and i really, really want to do this, so its very frustrating.

I recently thought that maybe a novel or short novel would be a better starting point, and if i can get a solid idea going, and get it written, maybe it would turn into a Pilot idea or a Screenplay, i also tried looking up screenplays that were never made into movies, but the ones i found were garbage. I would love to make a comedy based idea, comedy is tricky, and is probably the hardest genre to write. I've even thought of writing a stage play or theater play, and seeing if maybe it would come to me from that angle.

I will not give up on doing these things, at some point, everything will click, and work. Its going to be the most unlikely time when it happens, one moment will occur and it will be the one that gives me the perfect idea. I've been trying to do this for almost 2 years now, and ive gone through A LOT of ideas, and plenty of stories, none that would have grabbed any attention.

3 Things

so, in an effort to keep busy, and becuase i have a very big interest in ther writing part of this. I am , and have been trying to write a Pilot for a long time, and recently i was trying to write a screenplay, the one i had has been put aside, and i am starting over.

The Pilot will be based on something that already exists, The Screenplay is my own idea, and the Novel idea is in progress.

The Pilot, Stop-Motion and More

I remember watching a video with Everett Peck, he said one thing with a career in animation is ... always keep busy, always have plenty to do, different areas to keep busy with, and that is indeed what i try to do.

Obviously , there is the school projects, which are priority number one, always ... then there are the 2 independant projects i aquired, which are coming along .....

Third, there is the 'Pilot' script i have been trying to do for what seems like ages, there is also the stop-motion, and there is one other idea ive been tossing around in my head, and that is  .... a novel idea, i certainly have plenty of reference, and there is no shortage of material to look up on the Internet.

Keeping busy is good, Exploring is even better!

'Pilot' Concept .... Continued

So, after a few weeks of thinking and mulling over this, although ive been thinking about it for much longer ....but anyway, i have a few ideas to finally begin writing this Pilot, some are ideas i had a while back, and others come from something that was recently mentioned to me (see image above.)

Hopefully, before October is done, i will have something started .... and then come next semester, i can look back on it and laugh, after seeing how far off i am.

'Pilot' Concept

So, for what seems like decades, I've been attempting to write this Pilot, and at some point i will write this thing, its just a matter of timing and the right concept. I've always found Wonder Woman a very interesting and intriguing character, and there is a such a unique background that could be played with.

My initial idea for this would be to start from the end, and then go back a certain amount, and work from there. thats just the initial concept, ... the problem is , everytime it seems good, and i think i can sit and write it, which im going to do long hand (pen and paper) , something about it seems off, and i stop myself.

I've thought of many ideas for this Pilot, using both my own ideas, and already existing ideas, just to get something on paper that i can say i did.

Concept ... Continued

So, to continue with the other post, the concept art for the Injustice video game is really cool, but its also cool to see other TV shows interpretations of these iconic characters, or just artwork, and see how otrhers imagine them.

Wonder Woman being very iconic, and one of the three founders of The Justice League,  she becomes one that is often reimagined. In order to practice and get better , i do want to create my own imagining of Wonder Woman, as well as write a pilot script based on this character.

Concept

So, here is something very interesting, i was doing random searches, and accidentally ran into some of the concept art for the Injustice Gods Among Us video game, like the image above which is Wonder Woman. Its cool to look at these, and then look at how the character turned out. The process is fascinating.

It is very cool to see this, and also seeing what The Flash almost looked like in that game, also Sinestro .... very interesting designs that were tossed around.

On the topic of Wonder Woman, i still have an itch to write a pilot script, and with the Scriptwriting class coming next semester, i think i found my subject matter .... hint, hint :)

Keeping It Going ....

So, although i will be getting very busy, very fast with school and work, i am going to try to keep this updated and recent. I want to use what im learning every week and try to apply it to what i post on this blog.

I do still have some ideas floating around, but im going to rejig some stuff, and return to this in a few days or a few weeks, depending, but i will come back with some fresh news ideas, and some fresh knowledge.

I have created this JW Galaxy, and i am very much hoping to continue it with everything i create at the college, so hopefully i can use something i created here and bring it to life with what i learn in this program.

So, ive given myself some time, and i have some new ideas, and i still want to do another Youtube thing, its just a matter of the story. I'm hoping that one of these characters or ideas will be usable within the program at Mohawk.

Every now and again, i like to try and go back to Youtube, it is essentially where my ideas began with 'The Hideous Heart'. Now i tried a lot in between that, a few Youtube ideas that never quite panned out due to lack of story. The Showdown turned out well, and i still havent had anything that was even better than that was.

 

I have thought of recreating The Hideous Heart in a more clear and detailed way. The other idea has, for a very long time, been stop-motion, which is on/off at this point.

 

 

I have also thought of trying something bigger, now im not sure what that would be or what it would entail, but from what ive seen on Youtube, if you hjave an imagination, which i do, and an extreme passion for something, like i do for animation ... then anything is possible.

The tentative title is 'Hardbody'. Its going to be a very strange idea. I'm not sure how it will be presented on Youtube ..... but im working on it. The image above is meant to confuse, until i have a more clear idea. Its very rough and crude right now.

So i often mention how my primary goal, is to one day end up working for DC Comics, which is true, and it will happen, it will take numerous steps, but thats fine with me.

 

 

Why do i bring it up here? ....well its simple, i started an idea that sort of combines my universe with a universe that already exists and is well-established, you can kind of guess which one.

 

 

Lately ive been thinking of doing mini-showcase scripts for a few of the lesser-known characters, and also doing some drawings that would be my take on their appearance. Now i say this becuase, i figure if my goal is to get to DC, i might as well begin to get familair with as many of the characters as possible.

So, first off, below are 4 links that all inovle things or people that ive recently become fascinated with, one being stand-up comedy, one being Larry King Now, and the other being a Car Collectors show on the Youtube channel of GQ Magazine. The first link is the one that blatantly is connected to what i want to do, which is Tippett Studios, a well known master of stop-motion animation. Its very cool how discovering animation has lead me to so many other things that ive become enthralled with, and i now enjoy reading about, and researching. In a sense, everything below is an art form, and to me thats the cool part, it all comes from creativity, it all fascinates me, and if i can find an idea to bring some of it together, that would be fabulous.

Honor the Legacy

 

 

for a very long time now, ive wanted to do something with the characters of one of the many fascinating universes, i know i cant do anything with it, but more just for me, and for practice of course.

 

I've also thought of integrating them with characters i create on my own. These characters that exist are so interesting and have such a rich history to them, and there is so much that has never been explored in TV or film, so its just a matter of the story.

UPDATE: AUGUST 17. 2013:
So, i think i found a way of slowly doing this, and doing it in a good way, that honors these characters, and uses some of mine. Ive been letting it stew for days now, and im hoping i can start getting the story hammered out soon.

On a sidenote, i see many people are creating their own versions of some of these characters on Youtube, and im sure they do not have permission ... seems kind of risky, you can get in a lot of trouble.

UPDATE: AUGUST 19 . 2013:
I think i have found a good way to take certain elements that are my own, and certain elements from this pre-existing universe, in order to create a unique and compelling story, that will be told 2 parts at a time.

New Ideas

 

 

 

So, my initial idea for the first stop motion short film has been temporarily nixed, and i have a new one that i will begin writing, and planning.

 

 

I am pretty stoked, i hope i can make this one work.

UPDATE: AUGUST 1 2013:
Working on some more short film ideas for this stop motion, there wont be any actual video for a long time becuase i need to aquire the right parts and peices. Im also still working on two screenplays, some comic ideas, a youtube series, and a possible film festival video.

Although my interest in pro wrestling has faded a lot, i still am trying to develop an idea based on it, or based on certain personalities, past and present.

So, once the first screenplay im working on is done, and i send it to AS, im going to work towards another one, which will be what these next two comic ideas will be building to, the big events of the next screenplay.

So, I started 'The Birth of UltraGirl' script, but in order to keep the continuity , it wont be posted until the screenplay is finsihed and posted, but its pretty good, and will introduce a lot of new characters.

 

The screenplay is coming along well, and hopefully, by October it will be done and i can send it.

 

I am also working on PLENTY of other stuff , i still have not decided if the stop-motion short films will exist within The JW Galaxy.

End Time ....

 

 

 

So, generally, once i get asmuch out of certain characters and ideas, i like to move on. This has happened, as the the characters that were spawned from the Greek Mythology based idea have run their course for now, so i will establish new ones, perhaps some old ones will return, as the time jump will be significant for the next idea.

 

For now most of them are put aside, but still do exist somehwere in the JW Galaxy. there are still certain things to tie up, that will be revisited later on.

So, although there has not been too much noise on this blog as of late, aside from the slight redesign and reorganizing .... but i am still working on stuff, just thinking and trying to work out stories.

 

There is some research to be done, and some stuff i want to look into further, 3 things specifically would be 3d animation, machinima and stan winston school videos.

JW Stop Motion Update

I started doing some back ground screen tests to see how it looks, and it turned out well .... still have some motion tests to do.

 

Right now i have a very rough outline done, and some rough storyboards, showing how everything will move and interact, i have an idea of camera shots. So its slowly coming together.

 

 

These shorts should be no longer than 10-15 minutes at the most.

UPDATE: JULY, 25, 2013

 I started building my own stop motion puppets not too long ago, but i put it on indefinite hold, i started building Superman, i successfully built Duckman ,now i would love to finish Superman and build others .... and i have decided to look into ways to make that possible. :) #LetsBeAmbitious

I will look into K'NEX further, it seems to be a very good choice to use, but right now ill wait for the right time. The initial story i had for this short film will most likely be altered or rewritten.

NEW UPDATE: JULY 28 , 2013:
So bascially, i've come to realize this idea is going to take while, even with mixing bought figure and my own self-made stuff. Its not something that will happen fast, and i want it to turn out GREAT, so the time and quality are essential. When this is finally done, i want to be able to watch it and say ... this is even better than i imagined. The tricky part with creating stop-motion puppets, is not only getting the mold to look like the person or thing, but then to make the skin out of liquid latex and styrofoam, that is the tricky part. The armature skeleton is fairly easy.

New Idea Coming ...

 

 

 

I'm working on another one , (yes, i know, it never ends, and it never will.) , im not sure what exaclyt it is going to be, i have an idea of what it will be about, but just not sure whioch avenue of animation style i wanna use.

 

I wish i had access to 3d software, but right now i dont so i cant practice with that.

 

But im thinking, and when i have a beeter idea of this new idea, i will update this post.

The Pilot

 

 

 

So, once again, the idea i was going to use for The Pilot, which was a very bizzarre team that saves the planet is scrapped becuase i didnt like it .... and im my own biggest and harshest critic .... but anyway, below are some new potential ideas, a few dont yet have a basic description. I may end up using some old ideas ive done and create a movie screenplay if this pilot doesnt pan out, but it should becuase im determined to make it work and get something GREAT and send it to Amazon Studios.

So, im still thinking of a great pilot idea, but until then the screenplay is coming along, it is apporaching the 40 page mark.

So, I am going to do ALOT of research, because i want to put some more stuff on youtube, but it needs to look completely different than the others, so im working on a new style, new design .... i have a few references to use. I am also trying to find the perfect story for the Pilot, and find a good sci-fi/fantasy story.

 

I am working on a model in order to keep everything in one 'galaxy'. The JW Universe, The New World, The Dark World, My Youtube Ideas and The Pilot Idea are all in one galaxy .... just need to create the model and figure out where they all exist.

More Research Required

 

 

 

So, in order to get this pilot script done and sdent to Amazxon Studios, i am going to do some research on some comedy related cartoons and some old kids shows, and try and get some ideas.

 

I have an 'Angry Birds' like idea, and i always thought the idea behind 'Futurama' and 'Tripping the Rift' were really cool.

 

We will see.

So, im kickin some new characters around, and im finally getting around to doing some character designs and character sketches. I have a few ideas, but its all about the story and until the story is solid, i dont move forward. If i begin something with a no good story, the idea will likely be scrapped.

I have a book about how to draw The Simpsons, and it has tips on all the main characters, and even has blueprints of all the sets .... its very useful and inspirational. Tips from the pros.

Finally Bringing this Stop-Motion to Life



So, for a very very long time i have been trying to figure out this stop-motion idea. Firstly, deciding what the subject matter will be, and then figuring out how to aquire the proper materials to make it great, because otherwise its not worth doing. I may end up making a compromise and use some things that i hand make and some bought figures, just to make it work.

I have a few ideas, some my own, some are turning comics or others into stop-motion. Once i decide on a definite subject, i can start a script and storyboard.

Ideally, i want to have a stop-motion movie made by some time next year.
